The groundskeeper at Leddersford's stadium, identified by the coroner as a Slav and bearing a mysterious military tattoo. Sam Milton is not his real name — he is Stefan Dušan, a Yugoslavian war criminal who faked his death to escape justice. He is subsequently shot dead six pages before the end of Sweeper!, which is genuinely very close to the end of a 128-page book.
