Newcastle escaped with a point from the Saturday lunchtime kickoff at home to Bournemouth to stay unbeaten this season.
However, a shambolic first half performance saw us two goals down, and it could easily have been more, with a porous midfield and Botman and Thiaw looking shaky again at the back.
The first goal was contentious to say the least, Jacob Murphy obviously fouled on halfway, but an absolutely awful refereeing team somehow failed to spot it.
30 seconds later - too late for VAR to intervene really - and Bournemouth were ahead through the customary Tavernier goal.
Botman soon inexplicably played a Bournemouth attacker in who somehow skied it before Thiaw scored an unfortunate/comical own goal.
Once again we had Harvey Barnes to thank for hauling us back into it straight from the restart, scampering down the wing to get on the end of an excellent Hall through ball before doing what Harvey Barnes does - cutting inside and scoring.
This one was special, however, looping into the far top corner from a tight angle.
A slightly improved performance after the break saw us go for it, and in the 88th minute Jacob Ramsey scored the equaliser having come off the bench (along with new boy Fernandez-Pardo) just after the hour.
We had one big chance to win it with a late free kick that we couldn't take, but a point is probably more than the performance deserved in truth.
Still a work in progress, but still unbeaten.
