Newcastle lost their season's unbeaten record in the Monday night game, falling to a 4-1 defeat at Elland Road.
But the scoreline only tells half the story of a desperately disappointing display, as Newcastle turned in an infuriatingly passive performance.
By the time Leeds took the lead, we had already survived a first minute penalty shout against Fernandez-Pardo for what looked to me like a clear handball, and lost Nico to a surprising concussion sub after a gentle cross hit him in the side of the head.
The opening goal was incredibly unfortunate in isolation as Tanaka shot from the edge of the box, the ball smashing off Steur and on to Miley's foot before looping into the net with the excellent Hornicek completely wrong-footed.
And just three minutes later Calvert-Lewin leapt to nod the ball home via the head of teammate Bogle as Newcastle thoroughly lost any control of the game they may have had.
A complete lack of leadership and physicality throughout the whole team saw Leeds licking their lips with space to run into all over the pitch, and just before half time Calvert-Lewin strolled into the box, past Botman's calamitous attempt at a slide tackle and slotted home a deserved third.
With no changes at the break, we improved ever so slightly, but our continued failure to close down the space in front of our box saw Okafor able to volley home from range on the hour mark.
The introduction of Willock and Toure saw some belated efforts to trouble Leeds - with our two previous chances of note coming from the hard-working Wissa closing down Trafford who looked anything but convincing - and Toure forced home his first Premier League goal as the clock ticked over to added time to keep our previously positive goal difference to a mere -1.
So instead of going third with a victory, that honour fell to our more motivated and organised hosts and we dropped to 12th.
The only positives were a good display from Hornicek, some good pressing from Wissa and a goal for Toure, but this performance must surely be setting alarms off at The Knox training ground as we finally got the result our performances have deserved.
First item on the agenda is getting a tune out of Pardo.
If we can even make him anonymous in the next game, that'll be an improvement.
