For the umpteenth time this season, Newcastle went to pieces in stoppage time and threw away a win against Spurs, standing like statues as a Cristian Romero bicycle kick trickled into the corner of the goal in the 96th minute.

In a generally good performance, we twice took the lead in the final 20 minutes, first with a smart Bruno finish from outside the box, and then Gordon from a generous VAR awarded penalty for holding in the box.

In between that, Romero had headed home with Spurs' first shot on target following weak defending, but worse was to come in our traditional added time panic-fest.

A poor Ramsdale punch bobbled up in the box, and Romero flung himself at it in a clumsy bicycle kick which came off his shin, none of the Newcastle defenders in close proximity emerging with any credit as they watched it bobble home.

Yet more points thrown away against a "Sky 6 team" at home at the death, and conceding with the only two shots we faced on target is salt in the wounds.

We must improve our defensive concentration and game management from winning positions, as no team in the league has surrendered more points when leading.
